OperaPulse’s Aria of the Week – We have stretched our definition of Aria of the Week due to the national holiday coming up. Dovunque al mondo (Throughout the world), from Puccini’s Madame Butterfly, is not your typical aria but we thought Puccini’s use of the Star Spangled Banner was too good to pass up right before July 4th!
Here’s an interesting fact: The Star Spangled Banner was accepted as the official National Anthem of the United States in 1931, which was after Madame Butterfly’s premiere (1904).
