The Figaro Project

The Figaro Project is a Baltimore-based opera troupe that is dedicated to promoting young artists and presenting opera in accessible and affordable ways. The company maintains a roster of more than twenty emerging opera singers, all of whom have studied music at the Peabody Conservatory, as well as stage directors, composers, and conductors. As part of The Figaro Project’s goal to make opera affordable, all productions are presented free to the public or cost less than the price of a movie ticket.

In its second season, The Figaro Project is focusing on contemporary opera and presenting a “Contemporary Opera Trio”: three world-premiere one-act operas written for the troupe by Baltimore-based composers.

The Figaro Project was founded by soprano Caitlin Vincent in June 2009 as a way to create performing opportunities for talented young singers in the Baltimore area and present opera in accessible and affordable ways. With the help of original troupe members Jason Buckwalter, Nathan Wyatt, Annie Gill, and Lydia Beasley, The Figaro Project maintains an energetic creative force that is present in all of its productions.
