Carnegie Mellon offers a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, Master of Music degree, a Vocal Studies Certificate, and an Artist Diploma in Vocal Performance.  Vocal performance majors study the classical bel canto technique with a focus on vocal health.  All students meet weekly with a master teacher and vocal coach. Four semesters of acting and four semesters of dance and movement enhance performance skills. Solfege and Dalcroze Eurhythmics training, which expand students’ sight singing and rhythmic capabilities, are an integral part of CMU’s voice program. Students also gain a strong command of languages through the study of Italian, French, and German, as well as English language and diction. All singers are able to put their talents to practice on the stage: the School of Music presents two fully staged productions annually with a majority of principal roles assigned to undergraduate students.
