Seagle Music Colony

Seagle Music Colony is the oldest and one of the most distinguished summer vocal training programs in the United States, celebrating 100 years in 2015. Each summer, 32 of the best young artists from colleges, universities and young artist programs are selected through a rigorous audition process and spend nine weeks on the SMC campus outside Schroon Lake, NY in the beautiful Adirondack Mountains. As part of their training, the young artists present six full scale productions of opera and musical theatre to audiences from across the region in the one-of-a-kind Oscar Seagle Memorial Theatre.

Each summer season, Seagle Music Colony sends at least two productions on the road to venues across the Adirondack and Capital regions of New York. Typically, a children’s opera travels to community centers and libraries in 6-8 communities and a Broadway revue or small musical is also presented in at least two additional venues in the region. In addition, Seagle Music Colony artists sing in local and regional churches and senior centers.
