General Questions
How can I be a part of OperaPulse?
There are many ways to be a part of OperaPulse, but we’d like to start off by bringing it to your attention that you already are a part of OperaPulse! In fact, we all are the pulse of opera and unless we don’t embrace it more, sing it more, talk about it more and show it more the beat will continue to slow. Raise your voice and promote opera! Further, if you already have a listing in Figaro’s MarketPlace then you are helping both OperaPulse and the American opera communities, so we thank you! If you don’t have a listing, but are interested, then click here!
Are you interested in writing/reporting? You could be a voice for OperaPulse! We are constantly looking for passionate writers and advocates of opera to send us their thoughts, memos and work. At OperaPulse’s homepage you will see a category listed on the main navigation bar entitled “About OperaPulse”. Scroll the mouse over the category and a dropdown menu will appear containing a sub-category entitled “Getting Involved.” Click on “Getting Involved” and there you will find information regarding reviews, articles and reporting. Or you could just click here! (Keep in mind that OP’s current writers/reporters submit up-to-date, scholarly and well-researched material.)

How can I get others interested in opera?
Due to computers, video games, cell phones, TV programs, Tivo, HD Television, Hollywood movies, I-Pods, I-Pads, IMAX 3D, etc., our entertainment palate is over-saturated. This has made opera a tough sell to newcomers over the past couple of decades. Thus, it is hard to know where to start with newbies. Here are a few ideas:
1. Introduce them to our “Saturday Morning Comix.” This is especially effective with the younger crowd. You can also look in our Figaro’s MarketPlace to find out which opera companies in your community have an education outreach program. These programs specialize in bringing new, reduced, or kids’ opera into the community.
2. Introduce them to our “Aria of the Week.” Here, they can learn about and familiarize themselves with an opera in segments.
3. Just do the ol’ fashioned way – drag them to an opera! I heard Die Zauberflote is a good place to start: Top Ten: Best ‘First-Timer’ Operas
4. Don’t give up – we believe that once the live performance has been experienced, it can move the mind, heart and soul in ways that a new 60 inch LED HDTV and 500 Watt surround sound speaker system can’t.
How can I find more information about my favorite opera?
If you haven’t found all that you are looking for in Figaro’s MarketPlace, then try our “Search OperaPulse” function located at the top right of any page on OperaPulse.com. Just click the mouse in the white box and type in your favorite opera (i.e. La Boheme) and everything that OperaPulse has created for your specific opera will pop up on a new page. Keep checking back, because we’re constantly updating our data and we have new things coming soon!

When I click on videos, why don’t they work?
The two most likely reasons for a video to not play on your computer are:
1. You may need to update software on your computer (i.e. Flash).
2. The video was taken down due to copyright issues.
The best place to buy opera tickets is by finding your opera company of choice on Figaro’s MarketPlace and clicking on the “Buy Tickets” button located half-way down the company listing. Find your opera company of choice: Click Here.
